New Speech-Language Treatment CPT Codes for 2027: What Mississippi SLPs Need to Know

Effective January 1, 2027, CPT 92507 will be deleted and replaced by a new family of timed treatment codes for speech-language pathology.

This one-hour live webinar, presented by Mississippi’s ASHA State Advocate for Reimbursement (STAR), reviews the new code set, including code selection, time rules and documentation requirements. It also covers current information from Mississippi Medicaid and other payers about implementation, prior authorizations and fee schedules. Participants will discuss how the changes affect different practice settings and identify practical steps to prepare their billing, documentation and scheduling systems. A live Q&A will address members’ questions.

Learning outcomes:
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

• Identify the new speech-language pathology treatment codes that replace CPT 92507, and select the correct code based on the disorder treated and the time spent.
• Describe the documentation needed to support the new timed codes, including time thresholds, add-on units and the combined speech-and-language code.
• Outline at least three steps to prepare their practice setting for the January 1, 2027 transition, based on current guidance from Mississippi Medicaid and other payers.

Ruth Ann King, M.S., CCC-SLP is a speech-language pathologist with 15 years of clinical experience and the owner of King Speech-Language Therapy in Corinth, Mississippi. She serves as Mississippi’s ASHA State Advocate for Reimbursement(STAR),is currently serving a 3 year term on the ASHA Medicaid Committee, recently elected MSHA VP of Healthcare and works closely with the Mississippi Division of Medicaid on coding and fee schedule issues.
