The Mississippi Speech-Language-Hearing Association (MSHA) is actively working with the Mississippi Division of Medicaid (DOM) to address upcoming changes to speech-language pathology billing codes scheduled to take effect January 1, 2027.
DOM has confirmed that it will adopt the new speech-language pathology code set effective January 1, 2027, and that CPT code 92507 will be deleted as part of this transition.
MSHA representatives recently met with DOM leadership to discuss the upcoming changes and their potential impact on providers and patients. While the adoption of the new codes has been confirmed, several important details remain unresolved, including reimbursement rates, coverage guidelines, and prior authorization procedures.
MSHA continues to advocate for a smooth transition that minimizes administrative burdens on providers and ensures continued access to speech-language pathology services for Medicaid beneficiaries.
Additionally, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is expected to release its Calendar Year 2027 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule final rule in early November, which may provide additional guidance regarding federal coding and reimbursement policies.
MSHA is committed to keeping members informed throughout this transition. As additional information becomes available and is verified, updates will be shared through the MSHA website, newsletter, and social media channels. Members are encouraged to monitor these communications for important updates regarding the implementation of the new coding structure.
