MSHA is seeking licensed SLPs and AUDs to volunteer to
mentor Mississippi graduate students!
What is the MSHA Mentorship Program?
The mentorship program is designed to connect graduate students with mentors through MSHA. Mentors and students will meet to discuss various topics related to the fields of speech pathology and audiology (resume building, mock interviews, negotiating salary, maintaining licensure and CEUs, developing leadership skills, ethics, productivity expectations, documentation in various settings, CFY process).
Who can be a mentor?
Any licensed SLP or AUD in the state of MS. Mentors must also be a member of MSHA.
What is the time commitment for a mentor?
The program will be a 3-month commitment beginning in September 2024. Each mentor will have 1-2 graduate students. Mentors and mentees will meet once per month (virtual or in-person). There will be suggested topics for meetings; however, meetings will be informal and if mentors and students wish to discuss different or additional topics, we encourage them to do so.
Mentors will be featured on MSHA’s social media pages, and special incentives will also be provided to volunteers!
If you are interested in becoming a MSHA Mentor, please email Whitney Wallace (wwallace2@umc.edu) by April 23rd 2024. We hope you consider the awesome opportunity to mentor graduate students in MS!
